Before you start
Use a computer with a browser that supports screen sharing. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari offer different capture choices. Sign into Rill, then open Record my screen.
You can turn on Mic for narration and Camera to include yourself, when supported. Your browser asks for permission. Leave both off if you only need the screen. Recordings can last up to 10 minutes.
Screen recording does not collect console messages or network diagnostics. For those details from a website tab, use Rill for Chrome.
Record and preview
- Choose Start recording, then select the tab, window or screen in your browser’s sharing prompt.
- Show the steps. Keep the recording focused on one question or change.
- Choose Stop recording, or stop from the browser’s sharing bar.
- Play the preview. Use Record again if you want another take.
Expected result: a playable preview and a title field. Nothing is uploaded until you choose to save. You can also download a local copy from the preview.
Save your recording
Give it a title someone will recognize, then choose Save recording. Keep the recorder tab open until upload finishes. Rill opens the recording when playback is ready.
Saved screen recordings start private in your workspace. Review the video and create a share link when you want someone else to watch.
If saving fails, keep the preview open and download a local copy before leaving. Follow the on-screen recovery message or the saving help.
Ask someone else to record
To see what a customer or teammate is seeing, open Recording requests in your account. Enter what they should show and optional instructions, then choose Create link.
Send them the request link. They can record, preview and send a video without a Rill account. The submitted recording appears in your library. Each request accepts one recording and expires after seven days.
A request link asks for a new recording. A share link lets someone watch an existing recording. See the customer recording guide for an example request.
